MACAULAY C.E. SCHOOL
ADMISSION POLICY
NURSERY 2010/2011
INTRODUCTION
The
Admissions Policy sets out the requirements for admission to Macaulay
C.E. School each academic year. This policy was approved by the
Governors, Southwark Diocesan Board of Education and Lambeth Education
Authority in February 2009 and took effect on 1st April 2009,
superseding any former admissions policy.
The
Governors admit twenty five (25) pupils to the Nursery each academic
year. This admission limit has been agreed between the Governors and
the Local Education Authority for the year 2010/11.
Parents
wishing to apply for a place for entry during an academic year must do
so by the closing date for application. Children enter the
Nursery as soon as possible after their third birthday.
FOUNDATION
PLACES
Sixteen (16)
places are offered to pupils whose families are faithful and regular
worshippers in a Christian Church and for whom Macaulay CE School is the
nearest Church of England Primary School to where they live at the
closing date for application.
The parent
or carer must provide with the application:
·
proof of baptism
of the applicant in the Christian faith.
·
a reference from the Minister or Vicar of the Church or Churches
attended, dated not more than 3 months prior to the
closing date
for application
·
proof
of address

If there are
more than 16 qualifying applicants, places will be allocated according
to the following criteria, in order of priority:
1.
Children in or subject to the care or control of the Local
Authority.
2.
Children with a sibling in the school or nursery at the date of
entry
and
whose parents or
carers
remain faithful and regular
worshippers in
a Christian Church and for whom Macaulay CE
School is the nearest
Church of England Primary School to where
they live at the
closing date for application.
3.
Children of families who are faithful and regular worshippers at
any Anglican church;
4.
Children of families who are faithful and regular worshippers at
any other Christian denominational church;
5.
Children whose pressing social or medical needs or those of their
parent
or guardian place them in need of the caring environment
which
Macaulay School provides. Relevant written evidence from
appropriate sources such as a doctor’s certificate or Social
Services report, should be submitted.
It may
happen that there are insufficient places to admit all applicants
meeting a single criterion. In this case the Governors will allocate
places in the following order:
· Children
whose parent or guardian lives nearest to the School as
the crow flies.
If there are
fewer than 16 qualified applicants for Foundation Places, any unfilled
places will become additional Open Places. Unsuccessful applicants for
Foundation Places will be considered for any Open Places remaining
unfilled at the end of the allocation procedure.
OPEN PLACES
Nine (9)
places each year are offered as Open Places to pupils who do not qualify
for a Foundation Place and for whom Macaulay CE School is the nearest
Church of England Primary School to where they live at the closing
date for application
The parent
or carer must provide with the application
· proof
of address

not more than 3 months prior to the
closing
date for
application

following criteria, in order of priority:
1.
Children in or subject to the care or control of the Local
Authority.
2.
Children with a sibling in the school or nursery at the date
of
entry.
3.

meeting any one criterion. In this case the Governors will allocate
places in the following order:
· Children
whose parent or guardian lives nearest to the School as
the crow flies.
If there are
fewer than 9 qualifying applicants for Open Places, any unfilled places
will become additional Foundation Places. Unsuccessful applicants for
Open places will be considered for any Foundation places remaining
unfilled at the end of the allocation procedure.
