It hardly seems possible that December is here already……. Key Stage 1 are busily rehearsing for their play next week. Parents are invited to attend the main performance on Wednesday 9th at 2.00pm. Those of you who can’t make it on Wednesday are welcome to join KS2 to watch the dress rehearsal on Tuesday 8th at 2.00pm.

Look out for special Christmas letters from the teachers detailing the arrangements for all the parties etc. These will be coming home from Nursery, KS1 and KS2 very soon!

CLASS NEWS

Last week we all enjoyed our Book Week which was packed with interesting activities. Well done to everyone who dressed up as their favourite book character.

I was lucky enough to go with Year 3 to the Christingle service in Westminster Abbey. What a sight – 750 Christingles lighting up the Abbey!

Yesterday Years 1,3 and 5 enjoyed their sessions in the Learning Dome which turned the school hall into a planetarium for the morning.

We will be having our school Christmas lunch on Tuesday 15th December. All children who would normally have packed lunch may join us. Please send £1.60 into the school office by Friday 11th to book a school Christmas lunch for them.

PTA NEWS

The ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ night was a great success, raising just over £700. Thank you to all who came and especially to those who provided the wonderful buffet.

Tomorrow is the PTA Snow Fair from 3.00 till 5.00pm. There will be lots to try and lots to buy!  School and Nursery will finish at 3 o’clock so that the Fair can begin. Please ensure you are on time to meet your children as all the staff will be busy working on their stalls. It’s not too late to bake some cakes or return your raffle tickets.

On Saturday our Christmas tree sale will take place at Holy Trinity church between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

The fruit and veg scheme is going well. Please see Lucy McDowell at the end of school on a Friday if you would like to join.

Christmas Newsletter 2009

Unbelievably the autumn term is almost at an end and Christmas is now well and truly upon us, even the weather is promising to be snowy!

Last week’s Key Stage 1 Christmas presentation of ‘Sparkle’ was enjoyed by all who saw it. £102 was collected for our Christmas charity, the Ace of Clubs – thank you for your tremendous generosity. Also, a great big thank you to the children, and to all the staff and parents, whose hard work makes these special events possible. DVDs of ‘Sparkle’ and CDs of the photographs are available for sale at £5 each from Mrs Newman. This money will also go to our charity, Ace of Clubs.

CLASS NEWS

Last week Year 3 enjoyed being able to invite their parents to watch them lead a collective worship with Mrs O’Toole, about Christmas around the world. Thank you for your donations to Ace of Clubs which totalled £26.53

This week all children will be enjoying Christmas lunch, cinema trips and parties and the Nursery classes will be singing a selection of seasonal songs to their parents.

PTA NEWS

The Snow Fair made just over £3700! The Christmas tree & wreath sale on the following day raised just over £2600 – both excellent totals, and very well deserved for all the hard work and preparation on both days and for some weeks beforehand. A special thank you to our teams of coordinators and to everyone who donated items, made items to sell, set up, tidied up, helped run stalls, or simply came along and spent their money.
