Dear
Parents & Carers
Macaulay parents and carers can be proud that our children
attend what both OFSTED and the Southwark Diocesan Board of
Education (SDBE) judged in June to be an ‘Outstanding’ school –
the highest rating available.
The
Macaulay School Governors would like to invite you to a
discussion about our plans for the pupils in the coming year
and how we intend to maintain these high
standards.
The meeting will take place in
the Main Hall of the school at 7.15pm on Thursday 15th
October. We expect to be finished by 8.30pm and Governors
will be providing snacks along with wine and soft drinks.
The
meeting is a chance for you to meet with Governors and hear
about our plans for the school. Celyn Davies, the Deputy Head,
will also give a talk about the “Creative Curriculum” which is a
new way of teaching that will start to be used in all classes
over the next year.
Getting your
questions answered
We want to
make sure we cover issues that are of interest to parents.
To help us do this, please send us your
questions before the meeting - either by emailing them to
Governors at
talk-to-governors@macaulay.lambeth.sch.uk
or by putting them into the Governors box outside the school
office.
The
meeting will deal with topics for which Governors have specific
responsibility including the school’s education priorities, what
children should achieve by the time they leave and on what the
school should spend its money.
Questions
raised that are more to do with the day-to-day running of the
school (such as timetables, teaching or school discipline) will
be answered in a letter that will be sent to parents after the
meeting. We will make sure, however, that there is time at the
meeting for parents to raise any day-to-day issues of which they
think Governor’s should be aware.
What is the Governing Body and what does it do?
The role of the
Governing Body is to take a long term view of what the school
should be trying to achieve, and providing the structures that
ensure your child achieves his or her full academic and social
potential while at Macaulay School. The Governing Body doesn’t
run the School – that is the role of our excellent Headteacher
and staff. Who should be your first port of call to do with your
child’s education. The 16 members of the Governing Body are
appointed or elected by parents, staff, the six local Anglican
churches, Lambeth Council and the SDBE.
I look
forward to meeting you.
With best
wishes
Andrew Caesar-Gordon
Chair of Governors
